Framing Suggestions

It is always recommended to frame cyanotypes with a solid frame and matted. Using UV resistant glass will help to prevent some fading.  Keep it away from direct sunlight, in a room without humidity.

Direct wall hanging without any protection should be avoided.

What is Cyanotype?

Cyanotype is one of the oldest photographic printing processes in the history of photography. It was introduced by the astronomer and scientist John Herschel in 1842.

Cyanotype photography is a camera-less technique that involves laying an object on paper coated with a light sensitive solution of iron salts before exposing it to UV light and washing with water to create stunning white and Prussian blue images.

The cyanotype is a real collaboration with the natural elements: the sun, the water, the air, and the earth.
